Discouragement

Discouragement

The thoughts of one person
Can contain millions of things
Yet how is it
That most everyones thoughts is ruled by a very similar king
As the authority in our minds
Comes thoughts of failure and defeat
Robbed in purple, comes discouragement, hopelessness, and every possible retreat.
Like a leech in a blood-drought you suction
To the nearest possible attention and assurance
Someone must tell you you're worthwhile
Or the king will rule for good
Every outlet you look for assurance in yourself
Every chance you take to prove yourself well
Yet the crowned thoughts always follow, all the while you know that your only seeking to paint an empty shell
There are rules you must follow in this kingdom, and laws you must keep
And if you do not, the authority comes back, with punishments to reap.
There's always the fight to overpower the authority
That seems so common among us all
However it always seems the more we fight, the harder we fall
In the end, the thoughts of one person
Can contain millions of things
Yet how is it
That we only imagine a king
